On March 30, 2017 in the hall of "Memorial collection of books of Myrzatay Zholdasbekov" of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan there was a presentation of a new book of the film critic, candidate of art criticism, member of the Union of Cinematographers of Kazakhstan, associate professor of the department of "Art Studies" of the Kazakh National University of Arts Nazira Rakhmankyzy "Kazakh cinema: yesterday and today". The publication of the book is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In the scientific and research works, reviews, articles, interviews that entered the book, problems of Kazakh documentary and feature films, screenplays, films of young, film festivals, actual problems of the national cinema art are examined and analyzed. The main structure of the book consists of four parts: "Uakyt zhane kazakh kinosy", "Kazakh kinosy: kokeydegi kop saual", "Uakyt. Kino. Tulga" and "Kino - omir aynasy".

In the first part of the book "Uakyt zhane kazakh kinosy", which includes research work, the heroes of Kazakh documentary and feature films, the cinematography of Kazakh prose, the screenplay and many other topics are analyzed.

The second part of the book "Kazakh kinosy: Kokeydegi Kop Saual" included articles on topical problems of Kazakh cinema, film festivals, young movies and film reviews. The third part of the book "Uakyt. Kino. Tulga" presents interviews with well-known domestic filmmakers, examines the problems of the repertoire of films, domestic film distribution of the 1990s, the first international film festival "Eurasia" held in 1998, as well as opinions, views and reviews of filmmakers at the time, society and cinema. In the final, fourth part - interviews with the author, which were published in different years on the pages of republican newspapers and magazines.

The book of the film critic Nazira Rakhmankyzy "Kazakh cinema: yesterday and today" will provide the reader with the most complete information about yesterday and today's Kazakh cinema.

Nazira RAKHMANKYZY - film critic, candidate of art criticism, associate professor of the department of "Art Studies" of the Kazakh National University of Arts, member of the Union of Cinematographers of Kazakhstan. Graduate of the department "Cinema Science" of the Kazakh State Institute of Theater and Cinema named after T. Zhurgenov (now Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov, 1993-1997).

Nazira Rakhmankyzy is the author of two books about the life and work of Oraz Abishev, the film director and founder of documentary films in Kazakhstan: "Film director Oraz Abishev" (1998, Almaty, Kazakhstan / Shapagat), "Oraz Abishev" (2007, Almaty, Ruan), the author of the section "The History of Documentary Cinema in Kazakhstan" of the textbook "Kazakh kinosynyn tarikhy" ("The History of Kazakh Cinema", 2005, Almaty, IzdatMarket). The author of more than 100 articles, reviews, research papers and interviews about Kazakh cinema.

In 2007-2010 took an active part in the Republican Youth Film Festival "Didar" as Art Director and Chairman of the Selection Committee. She takes an active part in the work of the Jury of many film festivals of the national and international level.
