Soviet history textbooks stated that M. Kantaria and M. Yegorov were the first to raise the Flag of Victory over the Reichstag. But, in fact, the story was different. In total approximately 40 flags were hoisted on the building. But the very first flag was raised by Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev from Kazakhstan and Grigoriy Bulatov from Russia.
