An international scientific and practical conference on “Current problems of studying and teaching national history at the present time” will take place on November 22, 2014 at the L.N. Gumilyov ENU

The conference is aimed at discussion of current problems of Kazakhstan’s history beginning from features of Chinese resources and specificity of medieval historiography to implementation of Eurasian integration projects. The history of the Soviet period will be presented by its tragic pages, including political repressions, deportation of nations, famine, and history of the Gulag (government agency that administered the main Soviet forced labor camp systems). Different aspects of every-day life in the Soviet State during the Stalin era and features of the Soviet bureaucracy formation will also be discussed.

According to the press service of the Eurasian National University, a separate session will be devoted to the current issues of teaching of Kazakhstan’s history in the modern system of higher education.

180 reports were sent to the Conference Organizing Committee. Famous scientists from the Great Britain (A. Morrison), Belarus (V. Menkovskiy), Poland (M. Pedraki), Russia (D. Amanzholova, L. Alekseeva, N. Sapozhnikova), Turkey (Sebakhattin Shimshir) and many others will participate in the conference.

Kazakh, English, and Russian are the working languages of the conference.
